It\u00a0contains\u00a0naturally occurring beneficial bacteria that digest waste\u00a0and other organic contaminants in a wide array of commercial,\u00a0industrial and agricultural\u00a0applications, including distilleries, breweries, polluted water and farm effluent ponds.<\/p><p><strong>Treats Effluent Biologically<\/strong><br \/>It provides a very effective biological alternative to chemicals and caustic solvents.<br \/>It biologically treats wastewater and effluent by using micro-organisms (bacteria), which multiply\u00a0rapidly, to degrade organic waste naturally. This results in Biochemical Oxygen\u00a0Demand (BOD) reduction, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) reduction, and odour\u00a0control. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites, ammonia and phosphate levels in the water.<\/p><h4><strong>The Bacteria Produce Enzymes<\/strong><\/h4><ul><li>Provides a concentrated combination of micro-organisms to the wastewater and effluent.<\/li><li>As the bacteria metabolise, grow and divide, they produce enzymes that break down organic matter.<\/li><li>The bacteria are literally factories for the production of enzymes.<\/li><\/ul><h4><strong>The Enzymes Break Down the Organic Matter<\/strong><\/h4><p>The enzymes break down the organic matter into water soluble nutrients, which the bacteria digest. The bacterial digestion process consumes the organic matter. Using complex chemical reactions, the organic waste is metabolised down to water and Carbon Dioxide, providing the bacteria with energy for growth and reproduction.<br \/>Because the organic waste is consumed by the bacteria, it is then no longer present\u00a0to produce odours, sludge, pollution, or unsightly mess.<\/p><h4><strong>Increases the Bacteria Activity in the Effluent Ponds<\/strong><\/h4><p>Restores the beneficial bacteria population in the pond and increases the biological activity. The bacteria in effluent treatment \u201csense\u201d the type of wastes around them. The bacteria release different enzymes automatically to attack the different types of waste. The bacteria produce their own enzymes, so the bacteria release more enzymes than a customer could ever afford to purchase when compared to an enzyme product. Some enzymes like fats, others like protein, still others like starches. Unlike bacteria, they do not reproduce because they aren\u2019t alive. The basic distinction between enzymes and bacteria is that bacteria secrete enzymes to digest waste. Bacteria are living organisms, while enzymes are organic compounds.<\/p><h4><strong><br \/>Effluent Pond Treatment Removes Chemicals<\/strong><\/h4><p>The micro-organisms break down the farm chemicals and cleaning detergents into different forms, which are then made harmless or are consumed by the relevant micro-organisms. The smell disappears as the chemicals are consumed by the micro-organisms.<\/p><h4><strong>Ensures Effective Treatment of Organic Matter in Wastewater<\/strong><\/h4><p>Odours arise from a lack of oxygen and by the slow decay of organic matter in the water.
